I believe everyone should have this one cheap watch that is simply fun. It's fun to tinker with it, mod it a bit, change inexpensive straps and see what you get and you are not afraid to wear it anywhere. I decided my Orient Ray will become that watch. I have it from the beginning, when it came out, but it didn't get much wrist time. I liked it, but not THAT much and original black plastic strap wasn't comfortable at all.

That changed, when i "decided" i REALLY need a blue diver. I was set on middle range watches (Oris,..) but decided i really DON'T need it that much since i was constantly looking towards Omega Seamaster and i can't make myself to pay 3 - 5k for this watch at the moment.

So i discovered my little Orient and try to mod it so i'll like it more. I bought new flat sapphire double domed crystal with blue AR coating, coin edge bezel and black ceramic insert.
I also had to buy some basic tools so i could open the watch, change the crystal and then remove and changed the bezel. I had a lot of problems with the bezel itself so right now it's on, but not centered and i can't move it. I will take to a watchmaker to fix this since i don't want to damage it.

Then i bought a bunch of Barton straps to try them on and also original Orient Ray bracelet witch i like.

I think it has become a great watch and punches way above it's price point. Fun watch indeed.
